Nature is an abundant source of subjects for creative expression and my inspiration comes from the myriad of landscapes in the changing seasons. I am passionate about playfully expressing, through colour and lines, my love of the world around me. I am most inspired when my subjects “choose” me with an insistence that they must be painted – like the flower with the vibrant colour or the pond full of Tundra swans. I hide a heart in every painting to reflect my heart connection to each painting. May your heart be warmed by my creations!
Vonnie has called Oxford County home for most of her life. While attending College Avenue High School in Woodstock, she majored in art studies with instruction from prominent Oxford County artists Betty McArthur, Ed Baker, Moe Cosyn and Herb Kirkby. This gave her a foundation of knowledge which lay dormant for many years as her life – marriage, family and work in the mental health/dementia support fields – led the dance. Since 2014 she has rediscovered her passion for painting and is happily creating again. The knowledge that she gained in high school has been supplemented by instruction from several artists in Oxford County, London and other parts of Ontario as well as self-directed learning.
Vonnie is a Board member of Oxford Creative Connections, and member of Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre as well as Tillsonburg Station Arts. She has exhibited in galleries throughout Oxford County – Elmhurst, Annandale NHS, Woodstock Hospital, South Gate Centre and also Art With Panache Gallery in London. She participates in the Oxford Studio Tour and Oxford Creates. Her creations have found new homes throughout Oxford County, other parts of Ontario, Labrador and Florida.
